Book & Manuscript Scanning

NYPL is now offering scanning of public domain books and manuscript material for personal and research use only. Items are available currently as JPEGs at 1500 pixels on the long side burned to a CD only.

Please note that not all bound volumes can be digitized via the Library's book scanner due to size or condition.  Digital photography may be available.

To place a request, please fill out the Order Form (pdf), which can be returned via mail, fax, attached to an email, or in person. Orders cannot be processed without a completed form.

Turnaround time is 4 weeks unless notified otherwise depending on size of order.

Below pricing is for private use only. Pricing differs for commercial publication. Please contact us for further information.

PRICING FOR SCANNING BOUND VOLUMES:

Book scanner: $100.00 for up to 300 pages and $0.30 per page thereafer.

Digital photography for bound volumes requiring special handling: $175.00 for up to 300 pages and $1.00 per page thereafter.

PRICING FOR SCANNING MANUSCRIPT MATERIAL (UNBOUND ITEMS):

$2.50 per page. Minimum charge per order $25.00.
