Digital Files for Editorial, Commercial, and Other Uses

High-quality 300dpi TIFF files are available for use in books, journals, magazines/newspapers, documentaries, exhibitions, Internet, and all other uses.

As of April 20, 2011, NYPL has initiated a revamped Permissions Policy and Fee Schedule. Please see below.

Instructions:

• Please consult the fee schedule below. Prices include a 300dpi TIFF file.
• Complete the PERMISSIONS ORDER FORM (online or pdf.)
• Be sure to include the Image ID nos. for images found online in the NYPL Digital Gallery.
• For all images not found in the NYPL Digital Gallery, please include as much information as possible.
• Rush service may not be available for certain items from Manuscripts & Archives Divison, Schomburg Center, and the Performing Arts Library.
• Special handling surcharges of $50.00 per item are affixed on top of fees posted below for any item from the Map Division and Spencer Collection; and for laminated material larger than 11 x 17"; single items larger than 30 x 40"; bound oversize material larger than 16 x 16"; fragile items; and prints from microfilm.
• Submit the application to the Library via mail, fax, attached to an email or in person. Prepayment is required. We can invoice but your order cannot be processed until payment has been received.
• No refunds are given for purchase of public domain or third party rights-controlled images. Partial refunds will be given only for NYPL rights-controlled images that are licensed, but not used.

DELIVERY

Digital files are downloadable from NYPL's FTP/HTTP site. Customer will receive an email with username and password for download access.

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO REFUNDS EVEN IF IMAGES AE NOT PUBLISHED.

**Fee is $45 existing file or $70 new digital photography needed per image for personal use with no publication or any other rights granted.

Existing file to be re-scanned: +$100 surcharge per image on top of fees posted above

New scanning: +$35 surcharge per image on top of fees posted above

8 x10" Glossy Prints:

From microfilm - Nonprofit/Academic/Educational/Personal: $95 per print

From microfilm - Commercial: $155 per print

4 x 5" Color Transparencies:

Nonprofit/Academic/Educational/Personal: $200 per transparency

Commercial: $300 per transparency

NON-EDITORIAL USE (COVERS - BOOK/DVD/CD/BROCHURE/ANNUAL REPORT/CATALOG, ETC.)
