The New York Public Library's TechConnect program offers more than 80 technology classes online and at libraries throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island—all absolutely free. This May, we're inviting participants in our digital art classes to create new book cover art for your favorite banned books.

Throughout the year the Library's Books for All programs have encouraged readers and our patrons to stand with us to protect the freedom to read in the face of the alarming rise of book bans and challenges nationwide. Now, our Books For All Digital Art Challenge offers an all-new way to get involved.

Challenge Theme: Banned Book Covers

All you have to do to participate is attend one of our upcoming digital art classes and submit digital artwork that recreates or reimagines the cover of one of your favorite banned books for the chance to see your work at a special showcase for participants in this challenge.

For a list of suggestions of banned or challenged books whose covers you could reimagine, check out NYPL’s Banned Book Reading List.

Procreate Classes at SNFL

Join us at one of our upcoming Learn to Draw with Procreate classes at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) to get started and learn more about how you can participate in the challenge.
