Stop by George Bruce Library to view a selection of abstract paintings by Washington Heights artist Maggie Hernandez. The collection features work inspired by moods influenced by music, spaces, events, and people. These elements are represented in her work by an iconography of contrasting shapes and colors; pairing loose brushwork with geometric asymmetry and collaged elements resembling planetary universes. Maggie experiences the worlds she creates as a miniature silhouette in each painting; moving, dancing, expressing herself across the canvas as a positive and negative force of nature. Her aim as an artist is to capture the human spirit, inspiring curiosity, understanding and joy!
