needlework by Kevin Lustik

Join the Mulberry Street Library in welcoming Kevin Lustik, whose needlework will be on display on our ground floor from May 15 to July 8, 2023.

Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois, now living in New York City, Kevin Lustik has been sewing for 40 years. He started by creating quilts, moved on to needlepoint kits, then finally created his own original designs. Kevin Lustik has exhibited around New York City at the Leslie-Lohman Project Space, ChaShaMa, The Garment District Alliance, Port Authority Bus Terminal, and Jadite Gallery. His stitchery has been featured on CBS News and the FubbleTime interview show (see YouTube) and in the publications W42ST and Velvetpark. But the best place to see his work is on Instagram or Facebook at LustikArt.

In his own words: “I consider myself a needlepoint rebel because I break the rules, tearing and burning my fabric and sometimes leaving pieces unfinished or unspooling yarn outside the frame. I also incorporate beads, buttons, needles, and humor into my work.”
