Donor Advised Funds, Wire Transfers, and Gifts of Stock

Learn more about how to contribute to the Library via wire transfer, ACH wire transfer, gifts of stock, and IRA distributions.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) are the fastest-growing giving method to manage charitable donations. Donor Advised Funds allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend donations to non-profit organizations from their fund over time. Please note that per the Internal Revenue Code, you cannot receive goods, services, or impermissible benefits, like membership benefits, as a result of a DAF gift.

Gifts made to The New York Public Library can be designated for the Library to use wherever the need is greatest or directed to specific areas, including branch libraries, research centers, early childhood education, Book Fund, and more. Donors can also designate a specific amount or a percentage of a Donor Advised Fund as a legacy gift to the Library after their lifetime. If you have any questions please contact us at 212.930.0652 or Plannedgifts@nypl.org.

Clients of Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon can easily initiate fund dispersal through the DAF Direct window on this page. If your DAF is not listed, contact your DAF directly and reference our EIN: 13-1887440.

If you have any questions about donating to the Library through your DAF, please contact your donor membership program. Please note that the Library can not help you set up your DAF.
